Resonating Fields
The Photography of Lois Greenfield

This new presentation of Lois Greenfield’s work brings a fresh perspective and conceptualization developed by Lois’ collaborator, the Canadian Media Artist Henry Jesionka.

For this exhibition Jesionka has re-visionned Greenfield’s work into “galleries” that move beyond any one single image or instantaneous moment. These galleries become a resonant field of forms and figures, rhymes and configurations with sections and movements intended to form shifting structures of concept and design. Within each series Greenfield and Jesionka have orchestrated changes of scale, placement in sequence and configuration to create dynamic and very “musical” forms. more…

Australian Dance Theater’s HELD

Embodying the dynamic tension between the action of Garry Stewart’s ballistic choreography and its “fixed” capture by photographer Lois Greenfield, HELD juxtaposes solidity with liquidity, heaviness with lightness, stillness with flow, clarity with illusion in an extraordinary live performance. more…

Sculptural Lighting Moving Subjects

The photography of Lois Greenfield is an exploration of time as well as stunning images of dance. Performers frozen in space preserve a moment, and lead the viewer to ponder the moments before and after the slice of time captured by her camera. Greenfield’s work inspires us to re-evaluate how we see the world, and movement, in particular.
In this powerpoint seminar Lois shares her technique of lighting and stop action photography, explaining how she creates her signature photographic style, without digital manipulation of any kind.

As part of her presentation, she will project contact sheets to illustrate how she has ‘built’ some of her most well known fine-art and commercial shots, providing a privileged view into her unique creative method.
